AARP Tax-Aide Free Tax Preparation Program
AARP will again be preparing tax returns in Snohomish and Camano Island beginning in February. There is no charge for this service. Because of COVID, many of the traditional sites will not open this year. AARP will not have the ability to help as many taxpayers as in the past, and will mainly serve seniors and low-income taxpayers. Volunteers will be preparing returns virtually, and will scan taxpayer’s ID, social security cards and documents, save them to a secure location, complete the returns at counselor’s homes, provide taxpayers a paper copy of their return the following week, and then E-file their return.
Those interested in taking advantage of this free service can pick-up necessary documents at the Everett Public Library. More information on the process is in the packets. Come to either branch during Curbside Service hours, call the phone number on the signs, and ask for a AARP tax packet.
