Film Noir Series "Stranger on the Third Floor" (Evergreen Branch)
Wednesday, January 29, 2020
1:00 PM-4:00 PM
Stranger on the Third Floor (Boris Ingster, 1940, 64 min). Elisha Cook, Jr. is the man accused of slitting a café owner’s throat and Peter Lorre is the man creeping around the gorgeously-sculpted shadows in what could be described as the earliest example of film noir. Preceded by the documentary American Cinema: Film Noir (Jeffrey Schon, 1995, 55 min).
Evergreen Cinema Society Presents: Film Noir
It’s going to be a dark and delightful year! Throughout 2020, the Evergreen Cinema Society explores the darkest corners of film noir (dark films, usually thrillers). Each of these rediscovered gems is preceded by information about the artists, genre, style, and history. A brief discussion follows. All screenings most last Wednesdays of the month at 1 PM.
