1. How much bigger will the branch be after the expansion?

The current building is 8,500 sq. feet with 52 parking spaces.
Building addition on the west side of the existing structure will add about 5,600 sq. ft. and 36 additional parking spaces with the demolition of the city-owned duplex, located on the corner of Holly and 4th.
We will have to allocate space in the branch for telecommunications equipment now housed in the duplex.

2. Were there opportunities for public input?

Yes! Online and paper surveys were made available, and voting jars were used at the Evergreen Branch. Library staff visited neighborhood meetings and met with people attending programs at the branch. Library staff also attended community meetings and talked with teachers and school librarians. Dykeman gave a schematic design presentation at the May Library Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, May 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium.

3. Will the Evergreen Branch remain open during construction?

In order to lower costs of the expansion and speed up construction, the Evergreen Branch will have to be closed during construction.

4. Will the branch be moved someplace else?

No. The Evergreen Branch will stay where it is currently located, 9512 Evergreen Way.

5. Who will the architect be for the expansion project?

Dykeman was chosen as the architect for the project.

6. When will the construction be done?

The timetable right now is for construction to begin in January 2019, and a grand opening in late 2019.

7. Will the expanded building be LEED certified?

Council has approved just over $507,000 for the design of the expanded branch. Although the type of structure limits our ability to achieve LEED silver certification, the City will incorporate cost effective green building practices to the extent possible.

1. How do I create an account to use Kanopy?

• First, access Kanopy through the link on the library's website or by going to https://epls.kanopystreaming.com

• Once you're at the site, click the orange "Continue" button, 

• Then, click the "Log in" button at the top right part of the screen.

• Next, sign up by entering your name, email address, and create a password to use on Kanopy. You may also create an account by signing in with Facebook or Google.

• Then, go to your email inbox and open a the message from Kanopy, and click "Verify My Email"

• Now that you have verified your email address, select "Add library card"

• Finally, enter your 14-digit library card number (beginning with 2305600) and your PIN, and you'll be ready to start streaming!

2. How many titles can I watch?

Library cardholders are allowed 8 play credits per month. The count resets on the first of the month.

Once you click "Play" on a title, you may watch it as many times as you would like within 72 hours.

3. Is there an app for Kanopy?

Yes!

You can stream films from Roku, iOS, Apple TV, and Android devices using the free Kanopy app, downloaded from your device's app store.

4. Can I watch Kanopy movies on my TV?

In addition to the apps for Roku and Apple TV, you may also be able to cast Kanopy films to your TV via Chromecast or AirPlay (or even by connecting your device via HDMI).

5. Can I download movies to watch offline?

No. Kanopy videos may only be streamed at this time.

6. I didn't get a verification email. What happened?

Sometimes these emails can end up in your spam or junk mail folder. Please check those folders and allow kanopy@kanopystreaming.com to send messages to your inbox.
