Tayari Jones: An American Marriage

The 2020 Everett Reads! program features best-selling author Tayari Jones.  “An American Marriage” is a moving portrayal of social injustice and the effects of a wrongful conviction on a young couple. Join us for what the Seattle Times has called "one of the hottest events of February." 

This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. Books will be available for sale and signing during a reception after the presentation. 
American Creed

"American Creed" film screening & community conversation

"American Creed" shares the stories of unlikely activists who bring their communities together and confront the nation's deepest divides. Condoleezza Rice and David M. Kennedy come together from different perspectives to shed light on these stories, and what it means to be an American in turbulent times.

Following the film screening, Dr. Robert Richardson, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Edward R. Murrow  College of Communication at WSU Everett, will facilitate a community conversation.

This event is part of the Civil Everett program series, which encourages the community to engage in dialog on difficult topics. Sponsored by Everett Public Library, WSU Everett, and Citizen Film. Free and open to the public.

An Evening with Yangsze Choo

Join us for an unforgettable evening with Yangsze Choo, the New York Times best-selling author of “The Night Tiger" and “The Ghost Bride.” Choo will read from
“The Night Tiger,” 
a sweeping historical novel about a dance hall girl and an orphan boy whose fates entangle over an old Chinese superstition about men who turn into tigers.

6:30 p.m. – Private reception hosted by the Friends of the Library. Tickets are $16 and include a free paperback copy of “The Night Tiger”  and light refreshments. Tickets are available at nighttiger.brownpapertickets.com.

7:30 p.m. – Author talk, book sale and signing. Free and open to the public.

Phillip Margolin: A Reasonable Doubt

Phillip Margolin is a master of the legal thriller. In his newest book, “A Reasonable Doubt,” a magician linked to three murders and suspicious deaths years ago disappears in the middle of his new act. A young criminal defense attorney and former MMA fighter has to figure out if he was murdered or if he used his considerable skills to engineer his own disappearance.

This New York Times best-selling author will appear at the Everett Public Library for an author talk, book sale and signing. Free and open to the public.

S.M. Hulse: Eden Mine

Award winning author S.M. Hulse discusses her newest book, "Eden Mine." Set in a fading rural town in Montana, "Eden Mine" captures the repercussions of an act of domestic terrorism as it courses through the community, testing the faith of individuals and tearing at the seams of the family. Hulse explores the intersection between public politics and personal morals and decisions, and the complexity of faith, justice and loyalty in America.

Books will be available for sale and signing. Free and open to the public.
