Pete Seeger: The Man and the Music

Saturday, September 28, 2019

Pacific Northwest musical duo Hank & Claire perform the songs and speak the story of legendary folksinger Pete Seeger

Hank and Claire will explore how Pete Seeger’s activism inspired his music, tell stories from his life, and sing songs he wrote or popularized.  You’ll see historic photos, and learn the backstories for songs like “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” and “Turn, Turn, Turn.” A powerful blend of history, politics, and songs in tribute to this legendary activist.

Pete Seeger (1919-2014) is an iconic presence in the 20th Century American music landscape, revered by some and reviled by others for his activism on issues of labor, war, civil rights, and the environment.

Hank & Claire have performed together since 2008. Both flat-pick guitars, and Favro also plays bowed psaltery and mountain dulcimer. The duo’s combined repertoire includes original songs, traditional folk, and tunes from contemporary singer/songwriters. Their first album together, Heart of the Matter was released in late 2010, and their latest Home at Last, in 2014.
