Wednesday, January 31, 2018
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
A simple spray could save a life! Join Amy Austin, Opioid Outreach Specialist with Snohomish County Human Services, in learning how to administer Narcan (Naloxone), a drug that can block the effects of an opioid overdose. This training is free and open to the public.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the US programs for drug users and their caregivers prescribing take-home doses of naloxone and training on its use have prevented 10,000 opioid overdose deaths.
The training will also include information about what opioids/ opiates are, how they affect our bodies, who is at risk for overdose, what an opioid overdose looks like and what the antidote to an opiate overdose is.
Narcan will not be provided to those attending the training, though attendees will learn how to get it.
